Wednesday, 3rd August was the annual seniors charity day at Whitehaven golf club.
This year the charity was Prostate Cancer uk . Carried over from a lightening affected day on the 20th July. On the day there was a round of golf , whiskey and pork pies on the course , a raffle and an auction of golf equipment.
The winner on the day was Barry Cornish , who won easily in the wind and rain with 39 points.

With an 03:50am start time the four club members set off on a marathon day of golf. Their aim was to play 5 rounds of golf, allowing 3hrs for each round and playing each round in no more than 100 shots - a target they easily achieved. They started with only just enough light to see the first fairway in blustery conditions with a wind chill of 4 degrees in the middle of June! Car headlights were used to light the 2nd green which was still shrouded in darkness. The 1st and 2nd rounds were marred by wind and rain but the guys, in strong spirits, were well supported by the Ladies section with coffee, bacon sandwiches and gingerbread. They completed the final round at 20:05pm.
